2016 · Technovation Challenge

At 17, I built HOP: Help Other People.

The app

Travelers meet the city through people who speak their language.

HOP (Help Other People) connected travelers with locals who speak the same language and are happy to show their city as residents, not tour guides: real people and real places, beyond the tourist map.

I built it with my friend Jaini Cristina while we were in high school and a technical course in electronics at the Instituto Federal de São Paulo, Bragança Paulista campus. We had a week to find the idea and a month and a half to shape the business model and build the prototype.

We entered the Technovation Challenge (opens in a new tab), a global entrepreneurship competition where girls aged 10 to 18 build apps for problems in their own communities.

Winner of the Technovation Dix special category

HOP took the special category of the Brazilian edition and a R$ 3,000 prize.

What it taught me

The most interesting problems stay invisible until someone looks closely. That idea still runs through every project I take on.
